What is Wantsa?
Wantsa is a recommendation engine that functions like a search engine, only better. Instead of bombarding you with irrelevant information the way other search engines do, Wantsa presents you with specific recommendations so you can find exactly what you’re looking for, when you’re looking for it.
Where do the recommendations come from?
Wantsa works directly within your favourite social network to bring you only the most relevant recommendations, straight from your friends.
Depending on the type of social network you belong to, you can use it either as a seamless part of the network itself, or as a downloadable application that you can add right into your profile. Because Wantsa is intimately connected to your social network profile, it is able to populate your recommendations section with your friends, allowing you to see exactly who has made each recommendation.
Does Wantsa save my personal information?
Wantsa only saves the information you have chosen to enter into your profile. This information is used to allow you access to the most relevant offers and discounts available through Wantsa.
How does Wantsa work?
In the past, when you needed a mechanic, you would have had to spend hours looking through the phonebook and driving around your neighbourhood asking your friends for advice. With Wantsa, getting reliable recommendations is easy.
Because Wantsa works with businesses that promote their products and services directly within your social network, you can get recommendations from friends, accept offers from businesses and donate money to the Cause of your choice wherever you have access to your social network profile.
Where does the money that gets donated to my cause come from?
Each business that works with Wantsa decides on a set amount of money that will be given to a Cause each time you accept one of their offers. When you accept an offer, the donation amount identified in the offer flows through Wantsa and is given to the Cause of your choice.
What is an offer?
In addition to being a recommendation engine, Wantsa functions as an innovative marketing and advertising platform. Wantsa works with businesses to help them effectively market their products or services through social media channels, thereby reaching the broad demographics represented by social media users.
Offers are discounts or coupons that businesses want to give you for being a part of Wantsa. When you accept an offer by providing your opinion on a survey, taking a poll, printing a coupon, referring a friend or providing your email address, the amount of money listed on the top right hand side of the offer page is donated to the cause of your choice.
What kind of offers can I expect?
Businesses will most often offer you a percentage discount or a 2-for-1 deal. If you want to, you can also fill out surveys, participate in polls or request information from business through Wantsa.
How do I accept an offer?
Accepting an offer is as easy as filling out a brief survey and printing a coupon. Detailed instructions on exactly how to accept are included underneath each offer.
How do I choose which cause I’d like to support?
There is a section in every Wantsa application where you can go to select a cause. If you’re using Wantsa for the first time you will be prompted to choose a cause before you begin. After you choose a cause you can start reviewing and accepting offers right away!
Can I change the cause I’m supporting?
Yes! It’s fast and easy. Just go to your Wantsa card in the Wantsa application and click on the cause tab. You will be able to view the full list of causes and choose a new cause to support.
What if the cause I want to support is not on the selection screen?
At Wantsa, we’re always looking for new causes to support. If Wantsa doesn’t yet support the cause you’re most passionate about, just let us know. About 72 hours after you’ve made your request and your suggested cause is verified as a registered non-profit organization, Wantsa will add it to the selection screen so you and your friends can begin to make donations.
How do I make recommendations?
Making recommendations is easy. To recommend a friend to others, just click on the recommend tab at the top of your Wantsa page. This will allow you to scroll through all of your friends. Once you’ve selected the friend of your choice and specified the service you would like to recommend them for, confirm by clicking the recommend button. Wantsa will send a message to your friend notifying them of your recommendation, which they can choose to either allow or decline.
You can also make a recommendation by responding to a friend’s search requests. Start by clicking on the recommend button at the end of their search statement. Once you’ve done this you can scroll through the available populated recommendations, or make a new recommendation!
Can I change a recommendation?
You cannot change recommendations you’ve already made or un-recommend a friend or business you’ve previously recommended. You can, however, recommend a friend multiple times, for different services. Each time you recommend a friend, they have the opportunity to either allow or decline your recommendation.
